Path/TGIF

Happy Friday Everyone, ... Let's Talk about It!!

Open your heart and free the blockage, that prevents you from forgiveness.  Stop blocking your blessings, your Path has goals, accomplishments and moments of surrender.  The three F's in my daily prayers are for my Family, Friends and Foes,  Ironically at some point those in your life, could be all three.  Praying for others is when alchemy occurs.  Holding on to blame and anger, takes far more work than if you allow the Universe to do its job.  Understand this, standing up for yourself, knowing that your road might be one of isolation and solitude.  It can be a lonely road, but its the 'only' road.  Some will label you as 'difficult' or 'different'.  Fear can creep in, when your unsure, its imperative that we think for ourselves, no matter how its received.

Do not deflect your blessings, you must address what hinders your Path.  Miracles are natural expressions of love, you must be open to receive it.  What are you not giving?   Take an active role in ownership.  I can not say this enough, we as people, must learn to get out of our own way.  Character is illustrated in how you treat those who can do nothing for you.  Grace is your only Path.

Flashback Who's That ...

Flashback Who's That Thursday:

Groove Theory is an American R&B duo, with former member, singer-songwriter Amel Larrieux and songwriter/producer/actorBryce Wilson. The group is best known for their 1995 gold-single selling pop/R&B hit, "Tell Me", which reached the top five of Billboard 's Hot 100 and the US Billboard R&B chart.

Two other singles included "Baby Luv" and my personal fave "Keep Trying", which reached numbers 18 and 36.  Their album was certified gold.  The duo were in demand touring and guesting on various projects as well as Larrieux guesting on a project called 'Sweetback' which used Sade band members who  released a CD featuring the single 'You Will Rise'.
Groove Theory parted ways in 1999, Wilson recorded with another singer named Makeda Davis and signed with Columbia   in 2000 and begun working on a followup to their debut album entitled 'The Answer' which was never released

Wilson wasn't happy with the shift over at Columbia and asked to be released from his contract.  Fast forward to 2010 Wilson and Larrieux reunited for spot tour dates as Groove Theory and went back into the studio to record.  In the meantime Amel Larrieux continues to release solo projects, and has a cult following, while Bryce Wilson started his own label, and continues to be a sought out Producer and Actor(Beauty Shop,Trois,Hairshow).

Courage and Conviction

Courage and Conviction - Stuart Scott's moving speech last week at the ESPY's was a real tear jerker, and spoke deeply to perseverance and strength. We as humans, must deal with the hands that we are dealt, how we treat others through the adversities and struggle, is where character is built. Public figures like it or not become role models, some win at it, while others may fall short. Stuart Scott is WINNING!! His speech at the ESPY's showed the fighter, the strength and the gratitude. Well done my friend. We can all 'pause' and give thanks for our life, no matter what we may go through, a deeper struggle is out there. Click the link below to view Stuart's acceptance speech.

Rest In Peace

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor James Garner, whose whimsical style in the 1950s TV Western "Maverick" led to a stellar career in TV and films such as "The Rockford Files" and his Oscar-nominated "Murphy's Romance," has died, police said. He was 86.

He was found dead of natural causes at his home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles Saturday evening, Los Angeles police officer Alonzo Iniquez said early Sunday.

Police responded to a call around 8 p.m. PDT and confirmed Garner's identity from family members, Iniquez told The Associated Press.

There was no immediate word on a more specific cause of death. Garner had suffered a stroke in May 2008, just weeks after his 80th birthday.

Unfamiliar/TGIF

Happy Friday everyone, ... Let's Talk about It!!

We're not meant to be perfect, we're meant to be whole.  We are not in control of our destiny, God is.  Needs versus Wants, is when the irrational part of you has to exercise a lesson in patience.  Time works in its own way, rushes at its own convenience and slows down at a moments notice.  What is truly meant, will be greeted with purpose.   To stay, to wait, to sit STILL and be at one with the Universe and GOD is the highest form is spirituality.  Let him use you, seek his temple, seek his wisdom and honor him in truth.  You must have many conversations and release your vulnerabilities in order to benefit a deeper understanding.   Without application the work means, nothing.  To get a different result, you have to prepare oneself to try something that is unfamiliar, to get something that you've never had, is to be willing to do something that you've never done.

On the mountain top, you can surrender all, you can look to the hills, you have the fortitude to understand the rest.   The why question brings wisdom, to the yearning, to seek answers  to your curiosities.   Going within, is having a certain solitude moment of enhancement, to listen absorb, observe, learn to listen to that inner voice, the one that you constantly second guess, but the one that will never leads you astray.  We must learn to trust the journey of the miracles and Blessings.

Happy (79) Birthday

Happy Birthday to Iconic Legend the one and only Diahann Carroll.  A singer. Broadway stage, film, television actress, she has conquered them ALL.  I had the lovely pleasure of spending the evening with her a few years back, when she was on tour promoting her book 'The Legs Are The Last Thing To Go' it was one of the highlights of my life.  Diahann Carroll was born July 17, 1935.  She has had a long, successful career that has spanned nearly six decades. After appearing in some of the earliest major studio films to feature black casts such as Carmen Jones (1954) and Porgy and Bess (1959) and on Broadway in 1962 Tony Award for Best Actress – No Stringsshe starred in Julia (1968), one of the first series on American television to star a black woman in a non-stereotypical role.  Next she tackled the role of 'Claudine' trying to stay one step ahead of Mr Welfare man with James Earl Jones, which garnered her an Academy Award nomination.  On to her next project was Sister, Sister with Irene Cara and the late actress Rosaland Cash.  Later she created the role of Dominique  Deveraux televisions first black b*tch on the  prime time soap operaDynasty.  Having to knock down doors became the way of life for Ms. Carroll, on Broadway she played the role of Agnes in 'Agnes of God' and Nora Desmond in Sunset Boulevard two roles that were typically cast for a Caucasian.  Those are just some of the highlights of her illustrious career.

Today many up and coming African American actresses are able to get work in television/film because of Carroll's groundbreaking work.  She is the recipient of numerous stage and screen awards and nominations. Carroll has been married four times and became the mother of a daughter in 1960. She is a breast cancer survivor and activist.  Diahann Carroll was scheduled to return to the Broadway stage in the 2014 revival of A Raisin in the Sun as Mama, but withdrew prior to opening.  Ms. Carroll is true Hollywood Royalty!

Flashback Who's That ...

Beauty and Brains. singer, actress, songwriter and producer
Amerie Mi Marie Rogers known professionally as Ameriie (previously Amerie), is an American entertainer.   A Georgetown graduate with a BA degree in English and Fine Arts minor in design.  While studying at Georgetown, Amerie befriended a Washington, D.C. club promoter who eventually put her in touch with producer Rich Harrison.  After working on a demo she landed a record deal with Columbia records, making her debut in 2002 with the album All I Have, primarily co-written and produced by Rich Harrison, it was well received in the urban market. In 2005, Ameriie released her biggest hit to date, "1 Thing" (a sound that her label mate Beyonce' borrowed) the lead single from her second album, Touch, which garnered her crossover recognition and earned two Grammy Award nominations. Her third album, Because I Love It, achieved moderate international success in 2007, although it was not released in North America, and she subsequently left her label Columbia Records. Ameriie released her fourth studio album, In Love & War, in 2009, her first album under Island Def Jam.  Def Jam, in my opinion seemingly failed the 'Amerie' movement, it boogles the mind, how someone can be a marketing departments dream, but find resistance at radio and fail to make a dent with the consumer, tends to make you wonder, how a hit record is really achieved ...payola or lack thereof.  Ten years later '1 Thing' is still a banger.  So what happened to Amerie??

I dream of the day when racism and bigotry will end. Color is found in a box of crayons, we all have the same tools, our experiences culturally, may be different, but more similar than different. Game on !!!!

Legends AND Champions - Venus and Serena Williams came on the scene and gave the WTA a fit!!! How could these two black girls from the 'PRO jects' (lol) enter the Tennis arena rocking braids, beads and cornrows. The commentators talked crap, as they often do, the players were racist, as they often are. None of that stopped the Williams sister, they let their game do the talking, and it spoke VOLUMES! Undeniably two of the greatest players to ever play the game, and whether the tennis association or former has been tennis players and legends will ever care to admit to, these two ladies single handedly made Tennis popular with the public, like never before. So GAME on B*tches ... In the words of Nicki Minaj 'It Is What It Is'! Moral of the story, it doesn't matter where or how you start, its how you finish. #VenusWilliams #SerenaWilliams#Tennis #WTA
